Mix Congo red dye
Patient Urine mixes with congo red dye in the pipette

Reaction cuvette
Sample is then dispensed into a reaction cuvette,containing a separation matrix

Sample positive
If the sample is positive for congophilia, the red dye will be pulled through the matrix creating a red eluent.

Sample negative
If negative the dye will stay in the matrix leaving a clear, colourless eluent.

Positive control
As a positive control there is a colour changing line in the pipette which will change colour if enough sample is aspirated.
